Dear parent/carer,
I would like to welcome your child back after half term. I would like to take this opportunity to provide you with some information about some of the assessments that have already taken place and some upcoming assessments.
Assessments provide information that helps teachers identify areas of strength and areas that need to be developed. This information is essential to plan the next episode of learning effectively. Assessments also provide comparative data that can give us valuable information about how well our students are doing compared to other students nationally.
During the first half term students in Year 7 completed the New Group Reading Test (NGRT), and Progress Assessments in English and Maths. We are awaiting these results and will inform you of these results shortly.
During the summer term, Years 7, 8 and 9 completed Progress Assessments in both English and Maths we are in the process of using these results to ensure that we identify the strengths of the students, and plan lessons to ensure that any gaps identified are closed. Once fully analysed, we will be sending an individual report home, so you can see the progress of your child and help us to support them. You can support by checking their homework completion on Satchel:one previously known as Show My Homework, as well as having regular conversations about the work they are doing in school, and if they need support, encourage then to attend Homework Club after school.Should you need any further support about homework, can I please refer you to the Parental letter: Homework at Erdington Academy available on the website that was sent out in September.
This half term year 11s have Mock examinations starting November 14th and some students have GCSE exams, students have been provided with their timetables and revision support.
Students in all years will continue to complete regular formative and summative assessments in lessons so we can measure the progress they are making, and intervene early if further support is needed. It is vital that students work hard both in and out of lessons, in order to fulfil their potential – this information informs our planning to support your child fully.
