Proud to be an FMAT Academy

Principals Blog – May 2023

May 2023

We have had a busy few week’s at Erdington with the Trust academy review and Ofsted.  We would like to thank all the staff who have worked so hard for our pupils and community.  The feedback is positive, and we will continue to improve on all areas in the coming future.

External Provision

At Erdington we are proud of all our external partners who help ensure our students have all the tools and skills needed to ensure they thrive.

The ‘Make a Difference‘ team have been an important body that help ensure our pupils receive the mentoring they need in the school day.  They also help at break/lunch times to provide extra capacity, so all zones are strongly covered by staff.   Another feature of the team is ensuring our pupils can travel safe to their homes, the team is strategically placed on key routes to ensure pupils feel safe.

‘Foundations for the Future’ are another team that work with the pupils in our refocus room, they provide group and individual sessions with some of our most vulnerable students which has led to increase in student’s positive behaviour and attitudes.

Urban Devotion have been working with our year 7 cohort this academic year.  We realised that ‘Covid’ led to large gaps in our students SEMH intelligence.  The service has been excellent in providing team building activities that have provided our students with the confidence to thrive at Erdington Academy.

MW Fitness have worked with us this year running lunchtime activities, as a result issues occurring at lunch times have significantly reduced.
