Child Development

In Child Development at Erdington Academy our vision is for students to develop knowledge and skills that they can apply in the early years sector. Our aim is to prepare students to progress onto further higher qualification in Childcare and Health and Social Care. 

The Child Development and Early Years course will help students to gain a widened knowledge of a child’s development from birth to five years and understand the role of a childcare practitioner. 

The Child Development curriculum is designed to develop students understanding of the environmental factors that influence how a child grows physically, emotionally, and psychologically. This will enable students to develop empathy through the knowledge gained about children’s development. Students will also understand why some children have difficulties and delays, and how to help them overcome challenges and make positive contributions to society.
