Out of Hours Learning Programme

Erdington Academy offers a wide range of extracurricular activities as part of our Out of Hours Learning Programme, designed to enrich students’ learning experiences beyond the classroom.

Programme Times

Activities run Monday to Friday, from 3:10 PM to 4:10 PM.

What We Offer

Our programme includes opportunities across all faculties, providing pupils with access to a broad mix of activities, including:

  • Physical: Sports, fitness, and wellbeing sessions
  • Creative: Art, music, drama, and design clubs
  • Academic: Subject‑specific clubs, homework support, and curriculum enrichment
  • Leadership: Student Council, debate activities, and mentoring opportunities
  • Community: Volunteering, social action projects, and local community engagement

Why Out of Hours Learning Matters

Taking part in extracurricular activities supports students’:

  • Personal development
  • Confidence and resilience
  • Social skills and teamwork
  • Leadership abilities
  • Academic progress and engagement

Research consistently shows that students who take part in enrichment activities feel more connected to school and often perform better academically.

AQA Unit Award Scheme

Many of our extracurricular activities are linked to the AQA Unit Award Scheme (UAS).
This allows students to gain formal recognition from the AQA exam board for the work and achievements they complete during these sessions.

Get Involved

We encourage all students to take advantage of these opportunities and join activities that inspire, motivate, and challenge them.
