RE: Year 10 KS4 Curriculum Review
Dear Parent/Carer,
I hope your child has settled well into Year 10 and is enjoying their Key Stage 4 studies.
We recognise that choosing GCSE subjects is an important decision and, while most students will be happy with their current curriculum, we understand that some may wish to request a change. Our priority is to ensure that every student is studying a curriculum that enables them to be successful and engaged in their learning.
To support this process, we will be opening a Curriculum Review Window from 9:00am on Monday 21 September 2026 until 9:00am on Friday 25 September 2026.
If your child would like their KS4 curriculum to be reviewed, they should submit a letter addressed to me, Ms Cross, outlining:
- The reason(s) for requesting a change.
- The subject they wish to discontinue.
- The subject they would like to study instead.
The letter must be signed by both the student and their parent/carer.
All requests will be considered on an individual basis and in the order they are received. Please note that any changes will only be possible where:
- There is a suitable place available in the requested subject.
- The change can be accommodated within the existing timetable structure.
- The proposed curriculum remains appropriate for the student’s future aspirations and needs.
As part of our decision-making process, we will also refer to information provided during the Year 9 KS4 Options process.
Following the close of the review window, families will be informed of the outcome of their request. Any approved changes will be implemented no later than the October half-term break.
Please note that requests received after 9:00am on Friday 25 September 2026 cannot be considered.
If you have any questions regarding the curriculum review process, please do not hesitate to contact either myself or Mrs Archer, Head of Year 10.
Kind regards,
Ms E. Cross
Head of Academy
