Year 8 welcome letter

Dear Parent/Carer,

Hello and a warm welcome to Erdington Academy, we hope you have had a restful and safe summer. We look forward to welcoming students into the new academic year 2024/25 I thought I would take this opportunity to formally introduce myself as the Assistant Head of Year 8.  I look forward to working closely with you this year and have already met some of you last academic year.

I will be working alongside Mrs Archer who is the Head of Year 8. The year 8 team will look after your day-to-day needs, also linked to the year group is Mr Jordan the Associate Assistant principal for KS3.

What matters to me most is your happiness at Erdington Academy I will do my upmost to make your time here enjoyable there are also a further 4 Heads of Year and 4 Assistants that are always willing to help and support alongside myself and Mrs Archer. Please be assured Mrs Archer and I will be here to help with any issues or problems you may have alongside your form tutor.

At Erdington Academy we have a student leadership team this comprises of anti-bullying ambassadors they will be able to guide and advise you.

All year 8 will have been assigned to a house everyone in your form will be in the same house during Form time you will complete exciting activities and sometimes be in competition with other houses, students will have opportunities to follow the rewards programme these rewards will be accessible through competitions and following the expectations here at Erdington Academy. Achievement points will continue to be given to students that demonstrate our Academy values. The more rewards you earn the more rewards at the end of term, please be aware negative points will have a negative effect on your end of term reward opportunities.

Please look out for extra curriculum activates for you to participate in as these all contribute to you earning house colour badges:

At Erdington Academy we ask that you attend school and be on time, try your best and be honest. Please be reminded of the uniform standards this year, which can be found on the website. Can you please ensure you support the Academy in ensuring your child is in correct uniform. I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you of the mobile phone policy, mobile phones are not to be seen or heard, if a mobile is seen or heard the phone will be confiscated, if there is a need to contact your child during school hours please contact main reception.
