Erdington Academy Community Iftar Brings Families Together
Erdington Academy was delighted to welcome students, families, staff, and members of the local community to a special Community Iftar evening in celebration of the holy month of Ramadan.
Our school hall and canteen were beautifully transformed for the occasion, featuring decorated tables and a stunning Ramadan display that created a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The space offered an opportunity for reflection, connection, and togetherness for everyone attending.
Before the meal, members of our community were invited to take part in prayer, with prayer mats arranged thoughtfully in the hall. As sunset approached, guests gathered to break their fast with dates and refreshments, following the traditional opening of the Iftar meal.
The evening continued with delicious food, conversation, and a strong sense of unity as families, students, and staff came together to share the experience. A highlight of the night was a beautifully decorated cake offering the message: “Ramadan Mubarak from Erdington Academy.”
Attendees spoke warmly about the event. One parent shared, “It was a pleasure to speak with such dedicated teachers and see the community come together so positively.” Mrs Hamed commented on the “lovely community atmosphere” felt throughout the evening.
Mr Mallet, Principal of Erdington Academy, expressed his pride in the school’s second Community Iftar, saying he was “very proud of our school’s second Community Iftar, as they give us the opportunity to bring our school community together in a spirit of respect, understanding and friendship.”
Event coordinator Miss Folkes added her thanks: “I’d like to thank our committed and dedicated school staff for all of the teamwork and support they have given to make our Community Iftar such a special occasion.”
