Our Vision:

At Erdington Academy pupils receive a broad and balanced French curriculum which inspires them to succeed in all aspects of language learning: listening, speaking, reading and writing. It provides opportunities for all pupils to make progress and achieve whilst giving our students the opportunity to become independent, creative, resilient, enquiring and thoughtful learners. We have a curriculum that aims to foster curiosity and develop confident individuals who make a positive contribution to British society, as well as being global citizens equipped for a modern, diverse future. We ensure that SMSC and British Values are embedded in our curriculum, as well as following the school’s ethos brand.  At EA we aim to equip our students to study languages post-16 and in the longer term to be able to work with people from around the world and maybe in other countries.

Our curriculum aims to develop:

  • Pupils’ communication skills in terms of listening, speaking, reading and writing, as well as being able to offer their own opinions and justifications.
  • Pupils’ confidence in communication, enabling students to be good presenters and confident public speakers.
  • A better understanding of different people and cultures from the wider world, improving cultural capital and an awareness of different places.
  • Pupils’ communication and teamwork through the use of games, role play, different music and paired or group tasks in lessons.
