7th November 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we return from the half-term break, it has been heart-warming to see our students arriving in smart school uniform, ready to learn and proud to belong to our school community. This sense of belonging is deeply rooted in our school’s traditions, which continue to shape the calm, purposeful start to each and every day.
Our well-established routines and habits provide a strong foundation for learning, and we are grateful for your continued support in reinforcing these with your children at home. One of the most important habits we encourage is excellent attendance, which is closely linked to academic success. We were delighted to see students settle so well during assessment week, this week, demonstrating real commitment and ambition to showcase the progress they are making.
These assessments are vital in helping our teachers plan effectively, adjust their teaching, and revisit content where learning may need further support. It’s a collaborative effort that ensures every student is given the opportunity to thrive and achieve their best.
We also continue to celebrate strong punctuality and attendance through our half-termly raffle draw. Congratulations to the two students selected at the end of last term (both from Y9)! One family enjoyed a voucher for Nando’s, and another a voucher for VUE cinemas. Each week, when you receive a message via MCAS about your child’s 100% attendance and punctuality, they also receive a praise point on BromCom and a raffle ticket for the half term draw. This tradition is a small but meaningful way to recognise consistency and effort.
Last half term ended with a range of exciting enrichment opportunities for students across all year groups. From the Black Country Museum to team-building in Malvern, and exploring Computer Science history at Bletchley Park, these experiences reflect our commitment to Enriching Lives & Transforming Futures. We are currently gathering feedback from students and staff and would welcome constructive feedback from parents and carers too. These trips are designed to be cost-neutral, ensuring every student can participate.
Looking ahead, we have several important dates for your diary:
- Anti-Bullying Week begins next week. Students will take part in tutor-led activities focused on recognising and reporting behaviours they are uncomfortable with. We are keen that our students learn to be Upstanders and not Bystanders. Our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors, easily identified by their purple lanyards, will be available to speak with students throughout the week (and are always ‘on duty’). There is also an ‘Odd Sock’ Competition!
- Children in Need Day is on Friday, next week, and students are invited to wear a yellow accessory and donate 50p to support the Children in Need charities. I need to find my yellow earrings!
- PTFA Meeting – Tuesday 25th November at 6.00pm
- Parents’ Forum – Wednesday 26th November at 6.00pm
- Inclusion Coffee Morning – Thursday 27th November at 9.25am
- Teacher Training Day – Friday 28th November (students are not expected to attend school on this day).
As we move further into the term, we look forward to sharing details of some of our more traditional seasonal events, including the Christmas Concert and the Pantomime trip. These are always highlights in our calendar and bring our community together in celebration of the season.
It is also important to remember that during the working day school staff are all very busy; they are mostly teaching, on duty, in meetings or meeting with other professionals on or off site. We want to work with you for the benefit of your child/ren, however parents should not expect to arrive at reception and immediately speak to a particular member of staff. We prefer you to make an appointment for face-to-face meetings or if a quick call would suffice, then someone will always get back to you when they have capacity. Thank you in advance for your support with this.
Finally, please continue to follow us on social media for the latest updates and snapshots of school life.
Warm regards
Ms K Wright
Vice Principal
