8th October 2026
Dear Parents and Carers,
We would like to inform you that our upcoming Assessment Week will take place from Wednesday 4 November to Friday 6 November. While the majority of assessments will take place during these three days, some assessments will continue within normal timetabled lessons either before or after Assessment Week. This ensures that all subjects have sufficient time to assess students effectively.
For students in Years 7 to 10, Assessment Week also provides an opportunity to further develop effective study habits. In the lead-up to assessments, students will be shown a range of effective revision techniques within their lessons and will receive subject-specific revision materials and guidance to take home. Additional revision resources will also be available through Sparx, Satchel One and GCSEPod, and students are encouraged to access these regularly as part of their preparation. We would also like to stress the importance of completing all homework to a high standard, as homework tasks are carefully designed to reinforce key knowledge and skills that will be assessed. Developing good revision habits now will help students feel confident, prepared and ready to achieve their very best during Assessment Week.
For Year 11 students, this period is particularly important as it marks the beginning of their mock examination series, which will run until 17 November. These examinations provide students with an invaluable opportunity to experience formal examination conditions, assess their current progress and identify areas for further improvement ahead of their GCSE examinations. We ask all students and families to recognise the importance of this period and ensure that attendance, punctuality and revision remain a priority.
We would also like to remind families that our Year 11 Parental Revision Evening will take place next week on Tuesday 13 October. This event will provide practical advice, revision strategies and resources to help parents support their child throughout the mock examination period. We strongly encourage attendance, as it will contain key information to help students prepare effectively and maximise their success.
To support a calm and focused environment during Assessment Week, there will be an early finish at 2:15pm for all students on Wednesday 4 November, Thursday 5 November and Friday 6 November, except for Year 11. Please note the following arrangements for Year 11 students:
- Wednesday 4 November: Finish at approximately 2:40pm, except for Triple Science students who may finish later.
- Thursday 5 November: Finish at approximately 3:00pm.
- Friday 6 November: Finish times will vary and will be communicated on the day.
Please see the attached Assessment Week timetable for full details.
The Year 11 Mock Examination timetable will be distributed to students and parents at the Parental Revision Evening on Tuesday 13 October and is also available on the school website. We encourage all Year 11 students and parents/carers to familiarise themselves with the timetable and examination arrangements well in advance.
We would also like to take this opportunity to remind all families of the importance of excellent attendance, punctuality and effective revision during this period. Consistent attendance and thorough preparation are key to helping students perform to the best of their ability and feel confident in their progress.
Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Kind regards,
S Muschette
Assistant Principal
