24 October 2025
Good day to you all.
Today marks the end of a long 8-week term, however at the same time it only seems like 5 minutes ago we were welcoming all students back.
This term is always a really busy one with staff doing a lot of work behind the scenes, be that doing analysis of the summer Year 11 exams and the Key Stage 3 BASE tests to ensure lessons accurately target the needs of students or preparing one of the events and activities that go to make Erdington such a fantastic and special place to work. I just want to take a second to thank and acknowledge the staff for all the efforts they put into these events, such as open evening for Year 6 pupils, our Black History Month events or any of the other wide ranging sporting, arts, music or academic after school activities; but also yourselves, as part of our Erdington Academy community, in the support you give in attending or enabling your children to attend and participate.
Some of the students may have mentioned this week at home that we have had visitors from Ofsted in. This is because we were invited to be part of the Ofsted training for the new inspection framework and agreed that a team of inspectors could come and practice by running an inspection here at Erdington. While no new report will be published as it was a training exercise, I am pleased to say that the inspectors witnessed a lot of really great practice and I look forward to when we are inspected as it will demonstrate what a fantastic place Erdington Academy is and the high quality provision and experience students receive.
Next half term we will have a renewed focus on punctuality, both to school and in some small incidences, speed of movement around the building. Can I thank you all for support with uniform and if replacements are needed, please remember our suppliers are:
School Uniforms & Accessories | Clive Mark and Crested School Wear.
I hope you all have a restful half term break and look forward to welcoming student’s back on Monday 3rd November 2025.
Can I also remind you that next half term ends on Friday 19th December 2025 and on Friday 28th November 2025 we will have a training day, this is an important day for staff as it is where we review the learning and outcomes from students assessments so changes are made to the spring term’s teaching to ensure activities are sharply focused to the needs of groups and individual students.
