Proud to be an FMAT Academy

Principals End of Term letter – 10.4.2025

Spring 2025

Dear Parent/Carer

As we approach the end of the Spring term can I thank all the parents and carers that ensure our students are well presented and look professional and ready to work hard every day.

While this term has been full, we have had a range of exciting activities and opportunities for students to participate in. Students have reached the Debate Mate final next term, we had our first Iftar, that was a fantastic evening and will hopefully become part of our annual events.  Our year 10 students have taken over the student leadership positions, the year 11 have done a fantastic job and grown in confidence through the opportunities these positions bring. I want to formally thank them for this work and how they have represented the Academy.  Part of the work they have done involves a clean air project and this has complimented the work I have been doing with the Council for a 20mph zone outside the school. As I write this, I can hear the rehearsals for the final event of the term, Erdington’s Got Talent, I am looking forward to watching our fantastic students’ performances.

As the weather gets better, and the evenings lighter, next term can I encourage you to ensure that even more students get involved in the wide range of after-school activities we have on offer.

Can I just highlight a couple of reminders:

A polite reminder that parents should not park and block the Doctors in at Kingsbury Road Surgery because they need to have access to go out on patient visits.

Can I also remind all that hoodies, pouches and sports footwear are not acceptable in school.

A full range of our uniform is available from Clive Mark in Boldmere and Crested Schoolwear  (Trutex) in Erdington, if over the holiday items need to be renewed. This information is also available on the website.  This applies to PE uniform also; the expectation is that students bring their full Erdington Academy PE kit every lesson. Students who do not bring their kit or bring incorrect PE kit without reason will be challenged and sanctions issued to students according to school policy.

Can I finish by reminding all that the Academy closes at the normal time on Friday 11th April, and we re-open to all students at the normal time on Monday 28th April.

Thank you for your continued support for the work we do at the Academy, and I hope you have a restful Easter break.

Yours sincerely

S.Mallett

Principal
