Dear Parents and Carers
I hope this letter finds you well. At Erdington Academy, we strive to embody the values of the Erdington Way, which emphasises kindness, community and making a positive difference. As part of this, we support several charities and recently we made and sold bookmarks for Children in Need raising over £80 to help children across the UK. Additionally, we are excited to continue our charitable efforts with the Shoebox Appeal this December, spreading joy to those in need during the festive season. Together we are teaching our children the importance of compassion and the power of giving back.
As we conclude our recent assessment weeks, I want to take this opportunity to share some important information regarding the upcoming release of results and what the targets signify. Teachers are currently marking and moderating the exams papers to ensure the timely publication of results. Mock results will be shared with year 11 students at Parents’ evening on Thursday 12th December 4pm-7pm. Year 10 assessment results will be published on MCAS on Friday 13th of December and years 7-9 results will be published by Friday 20th of December. These results provide valuable insights into your child’s progress and understanding of the material covered during this period.
Targets and benchmarks, which will be shared alongside the results, are intended to highlight areas of strength and areas that may require additional focus. They serve as personalised goals for improvement. At Key Stage 4 these targets are GCSE grades 1-9 while at Key stage 3 we have taken end of Key stage 2 scores and standardised assessment scores to assign each student a benchmark as follows:
B – Beginning to show, where your child is beginning to demonstrate some of the criteria we expect at this stage of their learning.
A – Approaching, where your child is working towards the level we expect at this stage of their learning.
S- Secure, where your child is at the level we expect at this stage in their learning.
E – Exceeding, where your child is above the level we expect at this stage in their learning.
We encourage you to discuss these results with your child, fostering a supportive environment for their academic journey. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school in the usual ways.
Thank you for your ongoing support in ensuring the success and well-being of your child.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Muschette
Assistant Principal
