Welcome Back to Year 9
We hope you and your families had a restful and enjoyable summer break. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome all students back to school and wish everyone a successful and productive academic year.
We are also delighted to welcome Mrs McCaffery, who joins the Year 9 team as Assistant Head of Year. Together, we look forward to working closely with our students and families throughout the year to ensure that every young person achieves their full potential. Year 9 is a key stage in your child’s educational journey, as students will begin to consider and select their subject preferences for Year 10.
As we begin the new academic year, we would like to remind you of our expectations regarding uniform, equipment, attendance and behaviour.
Uniform Expectations
Students are expected to wear full school uniform every day:
- School blazer
- Black V-necked jumper (Optional)
- School tie
- Black tailored trousers
- Black tailored skirt (knee length)
Please note that Lycra Elastane, Lycra or jersey stretch skirts and flared trousers are no longer permitted as part of the school uniform.
Shoes must be:
- Completely black and a polishable material
Nike Air Max trainers and all other types of trainers are not permitted.
To maintain our high standards, we ask that students adhere to the following expectations:
- Hair must be of a natural colour.
- False eyelashes and false nails are not permitted in school.
- No piercings are allowed except single stud earing in each ear and single stud in nose (clear or natural colour)
Students who arrive wearing false eyelashes or false nails will be asked to remove them. If they refuse, they may be placed in the Refocus Room until the issue is resolved.
Mobile Phones
As you may be aware, the Department for Education has recently strengthened national guidance on mobile phones in schools. All schools are expected to ensure phones are not used, seen or heard during the school day. Our existing policy already aligns with this guidance, and we will continue to enforce it consistently. Keeping phones switched off and in bags helps reduce distraction, supports safeguarding, and ensures students remain focused on learning. If a phone is seen or heard, it will be confiscated and must be collected by a parent or carer.
Equipment
All students must arrive at school fully equipped for learning, including:
- Pens and pencils
- Required learning equipment
- A reusable water bottle

Punctuality
Good attendance and punctuality are essential to academic success. Students must be in school and ready for learning by 8:40am each morning.
- Students arriving late will receive a 25-minute detention.
- Students arriving after 9:00am will receive a 50-minute correction detention.
We ask for your support in ensuring that your child arrives on time each day and is ready to learn.
