Maths Progression Programme (MPP)

6th November 2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are excited to let you know that students at Erdington Academy will be taking part in the Maths Progression Programme (MPP). The programme aims to support students in GCSE Mathematics and provide strong foundations for students to continue to study Mathematics after finishing school at A level and beyond.

The programme is designed to remove barriers to Maths, achieving higher levels for students with high potential in school, small groups, and engaging Maths sessions. During the sessions, pupils will be exposed to more than just solutions to problems; they will think, speak, and work like University Mathematicians, having fun and realising that the answer is only the beginning.

If your son / daughter is selected for the programme you will receive a separate letter which will give you further details and how you can support.

An essential part of the programme will rely on selecting students and evaluating the impact the programme has had, using data. The data gathered will be used to help understand the impact of the programme and help improve it. If your child is chosen to be involved in the programme, basic student data of your child will be gathered for the evaluation.

All data gathered is done in compliance with GDPR requirements and as such is kept strictly confidential and will only be used to evaluate the programme.

Before we make the important decision of selecting students to be part of this programme, we wanted to give parents and carers the opportunity to opt out of being involved in the programme and their data being used as an evaluative measure. If you are happy for your child to be included in this, you do not need to do anything. However, if for any reason, you would prefer that your child’s data is not used or you would simply like more information, please contact  the project leads Miss Wilczynska (j.wilczynska@erdington.fmat.co.uk) or Mr Ali (j.ali@erdington.fmat.co.uk)  in writing at any time.

Yours sincerely,

J Wilczynska and J Ali
