Proud to be an FMAT Academy

Parental Letter – 8.6.2026

8 June 2026

Dear Parents/Carers,

I am writing to you following the incident that took place after school on Friday on Bromford Lane, involving adults in two vehicles.

I want to reassure you that the safety and wellbeing of our students remain our absolute priority. Please be assured that students were kept safe, and the situation was responded to quickly and appropriately.

I would also like to recognise the response to the incident. We were incredibly proud that this was a real community effort, with students, parents and staff working together calmly and responsibly to prioritise safety and alert the Police. This collective response reflects the strength of our community and our shared commitment to looking after one another.

We are working closely with the Police following this incident and will continue to do so to help ensure that Erdington and North Birmingham remain safe, welcoming and vibrant places for our young people to live and learn.

As a precaution, and to provide additional reassurance, we will be increasing staff presence at the school gates at the start and end of the day. This will support students as they arrive and leave the site and offer further peace of mind for families.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We are proud to work in partnership with such a strong and caring community; it is moments like this that show the very best of Erdington Academy.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Yours sincerely

Elizabeth Cross
