Stranger Danger

Schools occasionally receive reports about Stranger Danger.

This is where suspicious behaviour by a member of the public is reported to us by students, parents/carers or staff. When we receive these reports, we inform the Police, the Local Authority and our students and staff, so that they can remain vigilant. The Local Authority also inform the School about incidents reported by other schools in the North Birmingham area. We have recently received a report like this, and the Local Authority and Police have asked us to remind parents and students how to stay safe.

There are still more than 40 nights left of the winter when the sun sets before 6pm. It will be March before we feel the benefit.

Please talk to your children about the routes they take when walking home after school – particularly if they are staying for enrichment activities and taking advantage of the clubs and groups the school has to offer. It is much darker than the end of the school day when these finish.

Students should always stick to using well-lit footpaths and roads. They should behave sensibly and avoid dimly lit or other secluded areas like parks. Students should try to walk home with friends where they can and never go anywhere with someone they don’t know. If ever they are uncomfortable about something on their way home, they should try to go to the home of a friend if nearby and ask for help or go into a local shop to tell a member of staff they are worried.
