Proud to be an FMAT Academy

Parental Letter – 26th September 2023

26 September 2023

Dear Parent/Carer

Now that the year has started, I would like to give you some information on our priorities for the year.

It has been a good start to the year, over the past year we have further strengthened our pastoral and support team, this has enabled further capacity to address a wide range of student concerns and to ensure all students are happy, healthy and safe, while ensuring the priority and focus is on ensuring students receive a high-quality education.

Can I thank you for your support in insuring students are in full uniform and equipped ready for learning.  In light of feedback from yourselves and listening to students this year we have made an amendment to our jewellery expectations.  Students are now allowed to wear a nose stud.  This needs to be one stud only and needs to be small.  For some activities students may need to cover this up or remove.  The decision if the stud is acceptable is at the discretion of the academy senior staff.

Trust wide parental survey:

Every year we like to gather the voice of parents. The purpose of this survey is for us to gather the views and opinions of parents of the academy. The findings of this survey will be reviewed by academy and trust leaders so that as an organisation we can react and respond to feedback from parents and continue to develop.

All responses are anonymous and will remain confidential.

Please can you complete this survey by Monday 2nd October 2023.

Please see the link below, your time in completing this is greatly appreciated.

Academy Improvement Plan:

Every year we reflect on the needs and priorities that as a staff we believe are the priorities on further improving the quality of education we provide. The areas of focus over the coming year will be:

Removing barriers to students making progress.

How the academy, students and parents use and understand data.

Give further opportunities for student’s character development.

Ensure student’s attendance and punctuality is to a high standard.

For more details in each area, please see the attached one-page summary.

These areas we believe will further build on the fantastic work we have being conducting at the academy, developments that last year lead to the strongest results in the school’s history and an Ofsted judgement of good in all areas in April 2023.

Change to calendared Training day:

I need to inform you of an amendment we have made to our calendar for this year. The training day that was scheduled for March 2024 has been moved to 8th April 2024.  This is to support families with any arrangements that you may have in place for Eid that will be in the week of the 8th of April.

Regards

S Mallett

Principal
