Weekly Parental letter – 20.12.2024

20 December 2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to update you on some changes that we will be implementing to support all students in Year 11 as they head towards the final run up to their summer examinations.

GCSE examinations will start on the 8th May 2025 and we want to ensure that all students are supported as much as possible to close any gaps and get the best possible outcomes in the summer.

With this in mind from, January 7th there will be some changes to Year 11 form and Edge lessons. For form and registration, all students have been moved into groups that will be targeting the CORE subjects of English, Maths or Science. Students will remain in these targeted intervention groups until their next mock examinations, so we are able to carefully monitor the impact of the interventions. During those lessons students will receive specialised instruction so that we can support all students in Year 11 to achieve academic success.

While the form time interventions will focus on the CORE, Edge interventions will focus on option subjects, which are of equal importance. I will write to you in the New Year with an update about this.

The intervention provided by staff gives all students a real boost, but they are no substitute for independent revision at home. For all students to reach their true potential, all students in Year 11 should by now be regularly revising using resources such as GCSE Pod.

To ensure students know which form room to go to in the first week back, please check the MCAS app, which lists the students’ timetable for each day, including the name of the member of staff and the room.

I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and am looking forward to seeing Year 11 continue to grow and prosper in 2025.

Best wishes

Ms Cross

Head of Academy
