PTA- New Parent Teacher Association
At Erdington Academy we are keen for parents to be involved in our school life. We recognise the importance of working in partnership with parents and carers to ensure the success and happiness of our children and young people. Research states that parents who are actively involved in the process of their child’s education achieve more in school. Parental involvement continues to have a significant effect on achievement into adolescence and adulthood.
With this in mind, we wish to start a new PTA to provide closer links between home and school. The group will provide an opportunity to involve parents in school life, to bring parents views into school by sharing ideas and information. The group will also organise fundraising and occasional social events, these are to bring people together in community spirit and raise funds to contribute to additional resources which support the school and community.
This should ensure we continue building our strong relationship with all stakeholders.
If you would like more information about the PTA or would like to be part of it, please contact, Kav Pawar Vice Principal.
Strike Days
To make you aware, we have two further teacher strike days coming up in March on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March. We will keep you posted on any developments and inform you if your child will be at home or at school on these days.
Communication
We are committed to improving communication at the Academy. Currently there are many ways in which we communicate with you and where you can find valuable information about your child’s learning:
- Social Media/TWITTER – Where we post all recent correspondence.
- School Website– the school website has lots of information about the curriculum and Academy life. The content can also be translated into different languages. Where we post all recent correspondence.
- Headteachers Blog – can be found on the school website.
- Senior Leadership weekly letter contains information about academy initiatives – e-mailed out to parents/carers and available on the school website
- Curriculum/Pastoral information letters – these will be sent via e-mail to reduce paper waste. Please check your inbox.
- My Child at School App – Please look out for information on how you can download this.
We realise there are times you may wish to speak to a specific member of our team, either pastoral or academic. To support you with these requests we ask that you contact reception to make an appointment either in person or via phone and ask that to avoid disappointment you do not turn up at the academy without an appointment.
