Proud to be an FMAT Academy

Enrichment Day – 7th February 2024

Dear parent/ carer,

We are excited about our second enrichment day of the year on February 7th.

Every child will benefit from a wide range of enrichment opportunities to try new and varied activities that may not strictly fit into the curriculum, but that develop character, resilience and motivation, because we place a great emphasis on personal development.

An enrichment activity allows students to try something, that may not strictly fit into the curriculum

Year 7 will be visiting Symphony Hall in Birmingham to watch a concert performed by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. They will return to the Academy in the afternoon when they will complete some review activities with their teacher. They will be back in school for their lunch, and will finish school at normal time.

Year 8 will be developing their Team Building skills, by competing a series of physical and mental challenges in school. They should come to school in their PE kit, and wearing a plain blue or black tracksuit, as they will be outside for part of the day.

Year 9 are visiting further education and Higher education providers, locally and nationally. Some year 9 students will be working in school with trainers from the apprentice engineer scheme from HS2. You will receive a specific letter outlining details of your child’s visit.

Year 10 students will be experiencing enrichment within the English faculty, helping them to develop greater understanding of a variety literacy texts.

Year 11 students are following a day entitled “Prepare to Pass”. They will receive specific coaching towards success in English, Maths and Science, along with two hours of resilience training, that will help them to cope with the pressures of the imminent exam seasons.

Except for year 8, who should wear their school PE kit, all students must wear academy uniform as normal.

Yours sincerely

Mr G Bartlett
