Parental Letter – 1st December 2023

November 30, 2023

Dear Parents/Carers

As we conclude our recent assessment week, I want to take this opportunity to share some important information regarding the upcoming release of results and what the targets signify.

Teachers are currently marking and moderating the exams papers to ensure the timely publication of results. Results for the assessment week will be shared with years 10 and 11 students in school on December 22nd and the results will be available on the MCAS App on the same day. Years 7-9 results be available on MCAS on the 22nd of December. These results provide valuable insights into your child’s progress and understanding of the material covered during this period.

Targets and benchmarks, which will be shared alongside the results, are intended to highlight areas of strength and areas that may require additional focus. They serve as personalised goals for improvement. At Key Stage 4 these targets are GCSE grades 1-9 while at key stage 3 we have taken end of Key stage 2 scores and standardised assessment scores to assign each student a benchmark as follows:

B – Beginning to show, where your child is beginning to demonstrate some of the criteria we expect at this stage of their learning.

A – Approaching, where your child is working towards the level we expect at this stage of their learning.

S- Secure, where your child is at the level we expect at this stage in their learning.

E – Exceeding, where your child is above the level we expect at this stage in their learning.

We encourage you to discuss these results with your child, fostering a supportive environment for their academic journey. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school in the usual ways.

Your feedback on the assessment week is valuable so please complete the short survey using the link below.

Yours sincerely
