Proud to be an FMAT Academy

Parental weekly letter – 6.7.2023

6 July 2023

Dear Parents / Carers

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support in helping us prepare students for the assessments this year. All year groups have completed end of year assessments this half term in all subjects including GCSE exams, Mock exams, and National Standardised Assessments.

Year 11 students sat their GCSE examinations, and they conducted themselves in a manner befitting the young adults they are. They were in school until their final examinations and most of them took full advantage of the opportunities we offered in the weeks of their GCSE exams. They will receive their results in the summer, and we wish them all the success in their future endeavours, they were a real credit to the Academy.

Year 10 students completed their mock GCSE examinations, and they will receive their results next week. These results will indicate to students where revision has been successful so encouraging them to continue or they might need to try different revision techniques. Some student’s results will also indicate that they need to take full advantage of the opportunities in school and complete work outside of school. We will continue to support this through our homework club after school and various interventions that will start in September. We will also be writing to some parents later this week providing an opportunity to discuss the progress made in the mock examinations in more detail.

Years 7, 8 and 9 completed their Progress tests and New Group Reading Tests which are standardised assessments which will show the progress made over the academic year. I will be writing to you in the Autumn term to share the results with you.

Assessments allow teachers to ascertain if students know more, can do more, and remember more. This is critical so staff can plan lessons that then meet the needs of each individual student.  It also gives you very useful information about how your child is doing in school, As an Academy, we always striving to make improvements, so next year, we are making some exciting changes to how and when we assess students so we can continue supporting our students and ultimately improve their futures. I will inform you about the changes in the new academic year.

Again, thank you for your continued support as we strive to enrich the lives of the students in the Academy. Should you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Muschette

Assistant Principal
