Year 10 Enrichment Day – 16/10/2023

Dear Parent/Carer,

RE: Year 10 History Enrichment Visit, Hardwick Hall
Monday 16th October 9.00am – 4.00pm

As part of the Enrichment provision at Erdington Academy, your child has been chosen to take part in an educational visit to Hardwick Hall on Monday 16th October.

The aim of enrichment days is to enrich lives and transform futures by providing opportunities to try new and varied activities. This enrichment visit fits directly into the curriculum as it is the Historic Location for your child’s GCSE History course. This visit will provide valuable historical context when students study the Elizabethan unit in Year 11.

Please be advised that due to the nature of the site students will need to wear their own clothing, not school uniform. They should wear long trousers; either jeans, or loose joggers, a warm top, a waterproof coat with a hood, and sensible shoes such as trainers or walking boots. Please note, students who do not dress correctly for the visit may not be permitted to go and may have to remain in school.

Students should arrive at school as normal, attend registration and then will leave school at 9.00am. Students will travel to and from the venue by coach, and traffic permitting they should arrive back at school by the end of the school day.

Students should bring a packed lunch; any students in receipt of a free school meal will be given a packed lunch in school before departure.

Places on visits are subject to the exemplary behaviour of your child as an ambassador of Erdington Academy. Any breach in behaviour standards prior to visits may result in your child being removed from the visit.

If your child has any additional needs, other than those already advised, please do contact me: s.craig@erdington.fmat.co.uk . If you have any additional queries, please do not hesitate to contact the Academy on 0121 373 1080.

Yours sincerely

Sonja Craig
Head of History
