04 October 2023

Dear Parent/Carer,

RE: Year 10 Geography Fieldtrip, Sandwell RSPB Reserve
Monday October 16th, 9.00-4.00pm.

On the 16th October students studying GCSE Geography will travel to the Sandwell RSPB nature reserve, where they will examine the Perry Barr and Witton flood risk management scheme on the River Tame that have recently been completed.

The aim of the visit is to allow students to witness for themselves the strategies that they are studying in lessons. Pupils will complete a two-mile circular walk along the banks of the River Tame evaluating the different strategies used, completing field sketches and environmental surveys.

Students should arrive at school as normal, attend registration and then will leave school at 9.00am by coach to Sandwell RSPB reserve, they will return to school in time for lunchtime and Period 5.

Students should wear full school uniform and a comfortable pair of shoes, preferably trainers, we also advise that students also bring an appropriate outdoor coat. Students will travel to and from the venue by coach.

Places on the visit are subject to the exemplary behaviour of your child as an ambassador of Erdington Academy. Any breach in behaviour prior to the visit may result in your child being removed from the visit.
If your child has any additional physical needs, other than those already advised, please inform Mr Cheshire, Associate Assistant Principal for Humanities who is leading the visit.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact the school on 0121 373 1080.

Yours sincerely
